Juventus’ Pierre Kalulu has caught Manchester United’s attention over the past few months. The player’s ambitions regarding his future are now becoming increasingly clear.

The Frenchman has been one of Juve’s most reliable players under Luciano Spalletti this season.

He has now played over 4000 minutes across all competitions, growing as a player and leader under Luciano Spalletti. The Italian has started him in all but one game since his arrival, with Kalulu slotting in either at centre-back or right-back.

Some months ago, Sport Witness covered Manchester United’s scouting trip for the former AC Milan player. Kalulu was sent off during that game against Inter but that didn’t end the Old Trafford club’s interest in him.

Doubts about the defender are now clearing up and this is favouring Juve.

New deal in the works

TuttoSport report the Old Lady see Kalulu as a top player in their squad. Spalletti shares the opinion, which is leading to Juve already doing the work regarding a renewal.

The newspaper covers Manchester United interest, and Kalulu has also attracted many other major clubs in Europe. This may not be enough as ‘negotiations have begun’ over a new deal.

Juve are aiming to agree all terms by the end of the season, so that Kalulu’s future remains secure even if he impresses at the World Cup. They want to be fully sure of keeping him, tying him down until 2031.

His current contract runs out in 2028 and Kalulu would double his wage with the new deal. He earns €2m per season and a €4m per season offer is on the way.

Our take: United’s may have been used

It now feels like speculation around Manchester United and Liverpool was used by Pierre Kalulu’s entourage to get a bigger deal. That also helped them rush Juve into holding talks over a renewal, causing panic at the Italian club.

That doesn’t mean the France international wouldn’t be a good signing, though. The 25-year-old will add value to either of the two teams.
