Work on the 106-home Byron View is set to begin after the housebuilder finalised a land deal with Manchester City Council that has been three years in the making.

It was April 2023 when the city council began its search for a developer for a 6.5-acre site off Hinchley Road in Charlestown.

Having instructed Colliers to lead the sales process, Miller Homes was chosen as preferred bidder in August 2024.

Miller secured consent for its redevelopment plans last year and is due to start preparatory works soon.

Byron View will feature a mix of three- and four-bedroom mews, semi-detached, and detached homes for private sale.

The 22 affordable homes – evenly split between social rent and shared ownership – will be a mix of two- and three-bed mews and semi-detached homes.

John Hardy, land director at Miller Homes North West, said: “We are delighted to complete the acquisition of Byron View, further strengthening our presence across Greater Manchester and supporting the continued growth of the North West business.

“This is a well-located site with full planning consent already secured, and we look forward to bringing forward a high-quality new community that will contribute positively to the area and help meet local housing needs.”
