Police were called at 6.58pm yesterday (Tuesday) to Denbury Mount, Holme Wood to reports of a serious road traffic collision.
A Ford Transit van had been in collision with a pedestrian whilst reversing, the force said.
Police say the 58-year-old woman was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The driver remained at the scene and no arrests have been made, the force has also confirmed.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Police are appealing for witnesses after a serious road traffic collision in Bradford.
“Officers were called at 6.58pm yesterday to Denbury Mount to reports a Ford Transit had been in collision with a pedestrian, whilst reversing.
“The 58-year-old woman was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries.
“Officers from the Roads Policing Unit are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have seen the Ford Transit prior to the collision.
