AVI Bistrot-Américain

Belgravia’s The Lowndes London has welcomed a glamorous new addition in the form of AVI Bistrot-Américain, an all-day restaurant blending classic American comfort food with European flair. Chef Joshua Conte’s menu moves from lobster rolls and Caesar salads to truffle-topped burgers and indulgent pasta dishes, all served in suitably elegant surroundings. There are also unexpected global influences woven throughout – from tom yum-inspired seabass to richly spiced biryani – giving the whole thing a more contemporary edge than the name initially suggests.

Tavern

After closing Nest earlier this year, the team behind Restaurant St Barts has transformed the Old Street site into Tavern – a more relaxed, produce-led British bistro with open-fire cooking at its core. The menu champions top-tier British ingredients and whole-animal butchery, resulting in dishes that feel rustic but refined, from barbecued cuttlefish skewers to Tamworth pork served nose-to-tail. Expect bold flavours, seasonal specials and the kind of thoughtful cooking that’s already made the group a favourite among London food insiders.

Henry Moore: Monumental Nature

Kew Gardens will host the largest-ever exhibition dedicated to Henry Moore this summer, placing his monumental sculptures throughout the gardens as they were originally intended to be seen – outdoors and surrounded by nature. Alongside iconic reclining figures, visitors can expect large-scale bronzes, drawings and carvings spread across the grounds and gallery spaces. It’s a rare opportunity to experience Moore’s work at this scale, and in such a fitting setting.
