Thousands of people are expected to flock to Pudsey Carnival this weekend.

Pudsey Carnival returns to Queens Park on Saturday, May 16, with a full day of entertainment, stalls, and the much-loved parade through Pudsey town centre.

Here’s a list of what’s happening:

Parade

At 11.30am the Deputy Lord Mayor meets this year’s floats on Victoria Road .

Noon floats set off around Pudsey town centre.

The Lord Mayor will be on the steps of the Post Office to judge the floats and procession. (1st place £150, 2nd place £100, 3rd place £50 sponsored by PDS Windows).

Parking and public transport

Organisers are reminding visitors that parking is extremely limited and are encouraging people to walk or use public transport where possible.

During the event Pudsey Bus Station will not be served.

The following diversions will be in place during the parade:

4 and 4F

  • Towards Pudsey a normal route Swinnow Road then via Swinnow Lane, Stanningley Road, Stanningley Bottom and Richardshaw Lane to terminate on Richardshaw Lane.
  • Towards Leeds starting from Richardshaw Lane then via Stanningley Bypass and Swinnow Lane to resume route at Swinnow Road.

Service 9 at 1123 from Horsforth Rail Station to White Rose will divert from Richardshaw Lane via Stanningley Bypass and Swinnow Lane to resume normal route at Swinnow Road. 

Service 9C at 1147 from White Rose to Horsforth will divert via Stanningley Bypass to resume normal route at Richardshaw Lane.

Service 14 will be suspended between Bramley Bus Station and Pudsey during the event.

16 and 16A

  • Towards Pudsey, a normal route to Old Lane then diverting via Bradford Road, Dawsons Corner, Stanningley Bypass and Asda Slip Road to terminate at Richardshaw Lane
  • Towards Leeds starting from Richardshaw Lane to resume normal route.

  • Towards Pudsey, a normal route to Bradford Road then diverting via Dawsons Corner, Stanningley Bypass and Asda Slip Road to terminate at Richardshaw Lane.
  • Towards Bramley starting from Richardshaw Lane to resume a normal route.

  • Towards Pudsey terminating at bus stop 45012748 on Carlisle Road not serving Pudsey Bus Station and Owlcotes Shopping Centre during the event.
  • Towards Dewsbury starting from 45012748 on Carlise Road then diverting via Station Street, Greenside and Fartown.

Service X11 is diverting via Bradford Road, Dawsons Corner, Stanningley Bypass and Swinnow Lane in both directions.
