The USA entered the final over needing 16 for victory and with Mukkamalla still at the crease that looked a distinct possibility.

The equation was reduced to six required from the final ball with Mohammad Mohsin on strike to Brandon McMullen, but the USA No.10 could only manage to hit a four.

It was McMullen that was awarded the Player of the Match for his innings of 55 and two wickets with the ball, with Scotland amassing a big total of 321/6 with the bat and rain forced USA’s victory target to be reduced.

Their target was 249 in 32 overs and Mukkamalla almost single-handedly guided his side across the line, only for Berrington’s late heroics in the field that helped Scotland hold on and register the crucial victory.
