Liam Manning has made four changes to the Bristol City team that tasted defeat in the first leg of their Championship play-off semi-final against Sheffield United for the second leg at Bramall Lane.
The Robins are facing the daunting prospect of overturning a three-goal deficit after they fell to a 3-0 defeat at Ashton Gate on Thursday evening. After Rob Dickie was sent off in first half added time for what was adjudged to be a cynical foul on Kieffer Moore, goals from Harrison Burrows, Andre Brooks and Callum O’Hare put Chris Wilder’s side in the driving seat.
Dickie’s red card means Manning’s already stretched squad is even thinner than before. Although both Cam Pring and Harry Cornick are once again fit and available, Joe Williams’ season is over, and he will join Luke McNally and Mark Sykes on the High Performance Centre treatment table.

In what is expected to be the same 3-4-2-1 formation deployed in the first leg, and for much of the second half of the Championship campaign, Max O’Leary makes his 49th competitve start of the season between the City posts and will have a backline of Pring, Zak Vyner and George Tanner ahead of him.
Ahead of the defensive unit, Max Bird will drop into a deeper position alongside Jason Knight in the absence of Williams, and the former Derby County duo will be flanked by wing-backs Haydon Roberts and Ross McCrorie, with the expectation being that the Scotsman will move over to the right side of the pitch. Just ahead of the Knight and Bird, both Scott Twine and George Earthy come into the team as the Reds’ two number 10s.
