Police in Edinburgh are continuing to investigate after a woman was robbed of her car at knifepoint in a capital scheme.
The incident happened while the 22-year-old was parking her car behind a Scotmid store at Morvenside Close, in the Westburn area, at around 3.20pm on Tuesday, May 12. A man approached her, threatened her with a knife and demanded her keys.
He got into the driver’s seat as another man got into the passenger side and they drove off. The woman was not injured.
The car was recovered in Balfour Street in Leith around 12.30am on Thursday, May 14. Enquiries are ongoing to trace the two men.
The suspects are described as white and of gaunt appearance. One was aged 30-40 years with a scruffy blonde beard. He was wearing a black tracksuit and baseball cap. The second man was wearing a navy tracksuit and a black balaclava.
Detective Inspector Robert Wallace said: “Thankfully no one was injured but we need to trace the men responsible for this attack which left the woman frightened and very upset.
“We are asking anyone who saw the car from when it was driven off from Morvenside Close until it was found in Leith to get in touch.
“Please also make contact if you recognise the men responsible or know where they might be.”
