The Rathbone, Fitzrovia is undertaking a phased refurbishment programme as part of a long-term investment in the property, enhancing its guestrooms, suites and public spaces while reinforcing the hotel’s quietly residential character.

Phase One focuses on the hotel’s 72 guestrooms and suites, which are being reimagined in a variety of styles that respond to the building’s varied room configurations. Seventy-five per cent of the works have already been completed, with full completion scheduled for Summer 2026.

The renewed interiors follow a calm contemporary British aesthetic with a residential sensibility. Detailing favours high-quality, understated finishes over decorative or trend-led styling, remaining in keeping with the hotel’s discreet townhouse approach to hospitality.

Phase Two will see a complete refurbishment of the hotel’s public spaces, including Albert’s Bar, the lobby, reception and breakfast room, and is expected to conclude in Autumn 2026.

Tucked away just off Charlotte Street, The Rathbone, Fitzrovia occupies one of central London’s most walkable neighbourhoods, surrounded by acclaimed restaurants and moments from Soho, Theatreland, Bloomsbury and the West End. Despite its central position, the hotel remains notably removed from the ‘hustle and bustle’.

Known for its quietly attentive service and loyal returning clientele, The Rathbone has established itself as a dependable and discreet address within Fitzrovia. The refurbishment reflects the owners’ long-term, hands-on commitment to the property and reinforces its position as one of the area’s most established independent hotels.

Owned and operated by Carnarvon Hotels Limited, a long-standing private hospitality company under the leadership of Daniel Harris, the hotel continues to be managed with an emphasis on consistency, discretion, and long-term stewardship.
