‘Tell me why the special guest was Angry Ginge. I am so confused’
Angry Ginge played a surprise on-stage comedy routine at Manchester’s Creatures Comedy Club on Thursday night (May 14)
King of the Jungle Angry Ginge made a surprise appearance at a Manchester comedy club this week as he made his stand-up debut.
The content creator and influencer, from Eccles, Salford, made a name for himself with his live streams of FIFA online during the pandemic. With over 1.5m followers on Twitch alone, he came to further national attention following his winning stint on I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here last year.
Since taking the crown on the ITV reality series, where he appeared alongside stars including Moston rapper Aitch and Emmerdale actress Lisa Riley, Ginge – who’s real name is Morgan Burtwistle – he has presented at the BRIT Awards and will also return to this year’s Soccer Aid squad, taking place at London Stadium at the end of the month, following his debut last year.

On Thursday night (May 14), the live streamer took to the stage at the Creatures Comedy Club, within Wilson’s Social on Oldham Street in the Northern Quarter, for an impromptu stand-up routine.
Ahead of his appearance, the Thursday show – which was led by comedians Adam Rohan, Prue Blake, and Evan Desmarais – teased that it would feature ‘special guest acts’, but did not allude to any names besides blurred-out photos and promising that the event would feature acts seen on Soccer Aid, I’m A Celebrity, and with the Sidemen group. It turned out all three references related to Ginge.

Posting on Instagram after the event, comedian Adam joked: “I just did a gig that had ‘special guests’ on the show. Tell me why the special guest was @angryginge13. I am so confused.”
Fellow performer Jake Donaldson, who had also been a special guest, also wrote on social media of the show: “Wild gig tonight. Some absolutely mental stuff happened and that’s why it’s my favourite club in the North West!”
Creatures Comedy Club started life in 2022 in an unused basement space before the Corner Boy venue, which later changed into Wilson’s Social in 2025. Since its launch, the club has become renowned for its New York-style comedy events, which are held seven nights a week. Over the years, it has served as a platform for rising talent as well as for well-known names to test out new material.

The club is currently hosting its Comedian of the Year heats, with its seventh round due to take place this Sunday (May 17). Across 12 weeks, acts compete for a place in the semi-finals before a winner of the coveted title is chosen.
Later this summer, the famed Manchester comedy club will also host its own Creatures Comedy Festival. Running from July 23 to August 1, the event will feature appearances from names including Dan Tiernan, Chantel Nash, Paul Foot, Hasan Al-Habib, Kay Nicholson, and Catherine Bohart, as well as a work-in-progress show from a ‘top secret Taskmaster star’.
