Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly set to produce a new war film for Netflix.
Harry and Meghan will collaborate with scripted content head Tracy Ryerson to bring the book No Way Out: The Searing True Story of Men Under Siege to the screen through their production company, Archewell Productions.
Deadline reports that the book is being adapted into a feature film, with Bridge of Spies screenwriter Matt Charman writing the script, as part of the Sussexes’ ongoing deal with Netflix. The story follows Easy Company, made up of Paras and the Royal Irish Rangers, who were tasked with defending a district in Helmand province during July 2006 amid the Afghanistan conflict.
The book’s description reads, “In Helmand province in July 2006, Major Adam Jowett was given command of Easy Company, a hastily assembled and understrength unit of Paras and Royal Irish Rangers.”
It continues, “Their mission was to hold the District Centre of Musa Qala at any cost. Easy Company found themselves in a ramshackle compound, cut off and heavily outnumbered by the Taliban in the town. In No Way Out, Adam evokes the heat and chaos of battle as the Taliban hit Easy Company with wave after wave of brutal attack.”

Major Adam Jowett, who led the unit, wrote the account, marking the latest film project for Harry and Meghan, whose deal with the streaming giant was restructured to a first-look arrangement last year.
This new project will likely hold special significance for Harry, given his decade-long military career. The prince served two tours of duty in Afghanistan, including a 10-week deployment in Helmand province. His military career ended in 2015.
The Sussex couple have other Netflix projects in development. These include screen adaptations of Tracey Oliver’s The Wedding Date and Carley Fortune’s Meet Me At The Lake.
The outlet also reports they’re executive-producing a “polo-themed” drama series for the platform, set in the “high-flying equestrian town” of Wellington, Florida. The script will be written by Teacup’s Francisca X.
