The Sunday Times Rich List 2026 has revealed the wealthiest individuals and families across the UK, with manufacturing, betting, property and fitness entrepreneurs dominating the West Midlands rankings.
Leading the regional list once again is Lord Anthony Bamford and family, with an estimated fortune of £10.318bn – up from £9.45bn last year.
The wealth behind the family stems largely from construction equipment giant JCB, which continues to be one of the Midlands’ biggest industrial success stories.
The annual ranking, published by The Sunday Times, estimates that the UK’s 350 richest individuals and families now hold a combined wealth of £783.5bn.
Second on the West Midlands list are Denise Coates, John Coates and Peter Coates, whose combined wealth is estimated at £9.728bn.
The family built their fortune through Stoke-on-Trent-based gambling business Bet365, now one of the world’s largest online betting operators.
Food manufacturing entrepreneurs Ranjit Boparan and Baljinder Boparan rank third with £2.03bn. The family is best known for poultry giant 2 Sisters Food Group, one of the UK’s biggest food production businesses.
Property wealth also features strongly in the rankings. Caspar MacDonald-Hall and family, linked to extensive Midlands property investments, hold an estimated £1.654bn fortune, while telecoms entrepreneur John Caudwell sits fifth with £1.569bn after building and later selling mobile retailer Phones 4u.
Housebuilding heavyweight Sir Tony Gallagher, founder of Gallagher Developments, ranks sixth with £1.345bn, followed by Sir Peter Rigby, James Rigby and Steve Rigby, the family behind technology and airport group Rigby Group, with £1.041bn.
Property developer Roy Richardson and family were valued at £1.03bn, while car retail entrepreneur Lord Edmiston, founder of IM Group, recorded wealth of £897m.
Rounding out the top 10 is Ben Francis with an estimated fortune of £800m. The Solihull-born entrepreneur founded fitness apparel brand Gymshark while studying at university and remains one of the youngest self-made business figures on the list.
The wider UK rankings continue to be led by the Hinduja family, whose fortune is estimated at £38bn.
