Coronation Street has named the potential “number one suspected” in the Theo Silverton murder storyline.
The scaffolder, who was played by former Tracy Beaker star James Cartwright, was killed off at the end of the soap’s much-hyped Murder Week after almost a year of abusing partner Todd Grimshaw, and along with Todd himself, George Shuttleworth, Gary Windass, Summer Spellman, Christina Boyd and Danielle Silverton were named as official suspects.
Following a controversial flashforward that all led to a Murder Week, in which the same day was repeated over and over again, the abusive Theo Silverton was one of five potential villains set to be killed off and, in the end, he did not make it out alive, having been found dead at the bottom of some scaffolding.

Viewers of the ITV soap will remember that Gary was previously questioned over the murder, but wife Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) came to his rescue by lying to the police and claiming they had been having sex when the murder took place, and all CCTV from that time had been wiped.
Marching into the much-used police station, Kit told Lisa: ” Windass is no stranger to violence, and he had no time for Theo in the end,” but Lisa reminded him: “And he’s also the ex-partner of your current missus,” but he insisted that had nothing to do with anything.

He added: “The more I think about it, the more I think he’s the number-one suspect!” But Lisa informed him of the bad news that digital forensics were unable to retrieve the deleted footage. When he asked why, Lisa snarled back: ” Do I look like a computer geek? Suffice to say, the people that do couldn’t recover it!” The pair realised they were, in that case, back to square one and Swain simply demanded Kit put the kettle on as they dealt with it.
During a lunch at the Bistro, Gary once again insisted to Maria that he was innocent but the pair were confronted by Kit once again on the street. He said: ” Well, I’d say I’ve got better things to waste my time on than you, but I’m not sure.” Having had enough, Maria said: “Kit, have you actually got any proof that he’s done summat wrong? Otherwise, this is just harassment!”
Kit shot back: ” Theo was murdered, and despite what you might read in the papers, Maria, not everybody’s capable of doing that. So when I find someone who I think is, someone who’s got a motive, someone local, I need a good reason to stop looking at them,” as he made it clear he didn’t really believe Gary’s alibi.
Reacting to the scenes, one fan wrote on X: “Maria’s right, Kit is harassing Gary at this point. Since Gary is Kit’s girlfriend’s ex that looks even worse. This is where a conflict of interest starts to matter & that’s why Lisa reminded him that he has no proof. What happened to innocent until proven guilty, Kit?”
Another said: “Even though Theo was a baddie, I miss him?! I don’t like the Megan storyline and Kit gets in my whick with Gary!” whilst a third wrote: “Kit making sure Gary stays on his toes, and he wants to take a look at the builders yard for evidence!”
