Edges Pizza applied to convert a vacant railway arch at Fourth Court on Bridge Road in Holbeck.

Pizzas will be pre-ordered online from the collection-only shop after Leeds City Council granted planning permission.

Council planners said it would bring a disused retail unit back into use near the city’s up-and-coming South Bank area.

A planning report said: “The proposal involves the re‑use of an existing vacant commercial unit within an established mixed‑use area.

“The proposal would support a small independent business and contribute to local economic activity.”

The planning application said Edges Pizza had been successful in a residency at Green Room bar on nearby Wellington Street last summer.

The proposed opening hours of the new shop were 3pm-10pm daily, the report said.

The council assessed the potential impact of noise and odour on people living near Fourth Court, a row of seven commercial units.

The report said: “The scale of the unit, controlled hours of operation and collection‑only model would limit potential impacts arising from noise, disturbance and activity.

“No external seating is proposed and no food would be consumed on the premises.”
