Just minutes away from Victoria Station lies a very special building. With red and white brickwork and a towering campanile, Westminster Cathedral stands as a masterpiece designed by John Francis Bentley. While presenting a grand exterior, much of its exterior domes have remained bare for over 120 years. However, this is about to change.

Known for extraordinary design features, this cathedral offers visitors a glimpse into the wealth of historic treasures. From Byzantine mosaics to vast shadow domes and over 100 different types of marble sourced from 24 countries, it could be considered one of the most special buildings in England.

But that’s not all; Westminster Cathedral is also a hotspot for one of the most incredible shows in the world. Currently, you can get tickets for LUMINISCENCE, an event creating a sense of escape for the city’s residents and visitors.

The Neo-Byzantine Masterpiece

Featured in Hitchcock’s 1940 film Foreign Correspondent, Westminster Cathedral is a truly special building. This architectural masterpiece tells us a story of late-Victorian ambition and artistic craftsmanship. For those who decide to pay a visit, you would notice that the ceiling is dark and bare brick. Unfortunately, it never got a chance to be completed, since the architect passed away before the mosaics could be finished. For over a century, the upper reaches of the cathedral have waited for their finishing touches…

Surprisingly, with recent technology, we are finally able to step into a complete vision. Through advanced 3D digital modelling, LUMINISCENCE will digitally recreate the mosaic-adorned domes as they were always intended to be seen, closing the gap between history and the future.

Famous for having one of the best choirs in the world, the cathedral has already been a known spot for classical music fans. It’s safe to say that, due to this incredible opportunity, Westminster Cathedral might become one of the coolest cultural spots in the area. Get ready to be awestruck by a 360-degree magical light and sound combination highlighting the timeless beauty of the building.

Westminster Cathedral presents to you LUMINISCENCE, featuring a live performance by the Lux Aeterna choir. This event combines videomapping projections with the stirring works of classical greats like Verdi, Debussy, and Bach. The experience features a specially commissioned script by BAFTA and Olivier award-winner Tim Whitnall, narrated by the legendary London-born actor Hugh Bonneville.
