Volunteers are needed to take the floral plan forward, with support from Musselburgh and Inveresk Community Council.

“Musselburgh is a great place to live and it deserves to look good,” said Jacqueline Campbell, community council chairperson.

“But right now, we’re missing the people to do this – we need people to help care for the flowers and planters that bring our town to life.”

She said that the community council had taken over the initiative from previous groups, saying: “The flowers bring a bit of colour and civic pride to the town, and we felt it really important not to let it fall away.

“We have put things in place to make things easier; however, there is currently no group or person leading this.”

She added: “Currently there’s lots of support available but we need to formalise a group. We are happy to support but we will need some volunteers to make a group, name it and take it forward.

“If people are interested in brightening streets and increasing community pride, improving wellbeing and mental health, supporting local wildlife like bees and pollinators, as well as making the town more welcoming, they can sign up for our new Musselburgh In Bloom group.

“People can have as much or as little input as they are able. Whether they can spare an hour or two a week, 15 minutes in your lunch break or just want to be part of something positive in the community, this is a great opportunity to raise Musselburgh’s profile and bring the community together.”
