North Wales railway services have been delayed today (Sunday) after engineering works were unfinished. Transport for Wales has alerted passengers to the impact on the Holyhead to Chester and Holyhead to Cardiff Central services.
A TfW update this morning said: “Due to engineering works not being finished on time at Rhyl (RHL): We expect the incident to last until 06:21 and disruption to services is expected until 11:45.
“We have been made aware of engineering works not being finished on time near Rhyl, on the Chester – Holyhead route.”
As a result, the following Transport for Wales services have been affected.
- 06:21 Chester – Holyhead service has been cancelled.
- 10:17 Holyhead – Cardiff Central service will now start at Chester.
The TfW update added: “Our services between Chester and Holyhead are disrupted in both directions. We expect the incident to be cleared by 08:00. Train services will be disrupted until 11:45. ” Sign up for the North Wales Live newsletter sent twice daily to your inbox
“Alternative Travel Options: We have organised buses to run between Chester and Holyhead to assist customers to complete journeys where possible at no extra cost. These will arrive at:
- Chester at 07:00 calling all stops to Holyhead, provided by Keanes Coaches.
- Holyhead at 10:17 calling all stops to Chester, provided by Keanes Coaches.
- Llandudno Junction at 11:22 calling all stops to Chester, provided by Keanes Coaches.
“These arrangements are in place on services until 11:45.
“Road Transport will take longer than rail services. Please allow extra time to complete your journey. “
