Jodie Comer has been pictured at the Hill Dickinson Stadium for Everton’s final home game of the season. The superstar actor hails from a family of devoted Evertonians and the match against Sunderland is the first time she’s been spotted at the new home of the Toffees.
Jodie is in attendance for a special reason as her dad, Jimmy Comer, is retiring from his position as the club’s masseur. Jimmy has worked at the club for 30 years and is a hugely popular figure behind the scenes as club captain Seamus Coleman showered him with praise in today’s match programme.
He said: “He was one of those who helped show me what Everton meant.” Jodie is in attendance today so show her support for her dad and what is sure to be an emotional occasion for the whole family.
The official Everton account shared footage of Jodie inside the ground today as she returned to her home city. The caption said: “Evertonian actor Jodie Comer is here today as her dad Jimmy calls time on a 29-year career as part of the Blues’ backroom staff. Thank you and enjoy your retirement, Jimmy!”
Jodie spoke to the ECHO in an exclusive interview about her bond with Everton ahead of the release of 28 Years Later last year. The actor laughed she stood by claims she made in previous interviews that she’d rather sacrifice winning an Academy Award to see Everton win the league.
She told the Guardian in 2024: “The Oscar is considered the pinnacle of acting. You receive one of them… “But I think I have to say winning the league, purely to see the joy and elation on my dad and my brother’s faces.”
In her chat with the ECHO, Jodie laughed she stands by her comments that she’d rather see David Moyes’ side end their wait for a major trophy, but only under one condition.
She said: “Yeah, but they better hurry up, that’s all I’d say. I’ll stand by it, if they hurry up.” Jodie was one of the famous faces to deliver a message after the final men’s game at Goodison Park last year.

The Killing Eve star told the ECHO it was an honour to be involved in such a momentous occasion that mattered so dearly to her family. She added: “My dad has been there since just before I was born, so he has so much history there.
“Knowing how much it means to him and my brother and the family is something that can’t be recreated. To think it was there since the 1800s.
“All that history, all the loved ones that have been there, and people we have lost means it carries such a weight.” Jodie admitted the end of an era celebrations were a tearful affair for her family.
She said: “[The goodbye] was lovely. My brother and my auntie were there and my dad said they had such a brilliant day celebrating. I was getting sent all the pictures.
“It was as good as a goodbye can be. It will be nice to see what the new ground brings them and welcome that in.”
It’s all go for Jodie at the moment as she will soon return to screens for the Death of Robin Hood later this year. She will follow that up with a lead role in a new HBO show from celebrated writer Damon Lindelof.
The 33-year-old returned to Liverpool earlier this year to bring the curtain down on her time as Tess in Prima Facie. Reflecting on the performances at the Liverpool Playhouse in March, she said: “Liverpool, THANK YOU!
“It felt like every part of the process had been leading to this divine moment. I don’t have the words, nor do I want to try. All I know is that I will call back on this memory and the sensation of being on that stage, in the Liverpool Playhouse, for the rest of my life.”Tess was home, I was home. And yet surrounded by these beautiful people, each city became a version of home for a very short space of time. This was wholeheartedly a result of the support and presence we offered one another as a company.”This was a picture from our final pre show dance.
