Marcus Rashford is reportedly prepared to go to extraordinary lengths to secure a permanent move to Barcelona.
The Manchester United forward, who has spent the 2025/26 season on loan at the Camp Nou, is eager to remain in Catalonia beyond the summer. Although Barcelona and United have held talks for several months, the two clubs are still yet to reach an agreement – leaving Rashford’s future hanging in the balance.
United are standing firm on their £26.2million (€30m) valuation of the player – a fee Barcelona are currently reluctant to pay. However, Rashford is now said to be willing to make major sacrifices to help push the deal through.

According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Rashford had already agreed in principle to a three-year contract with Barcelona that includes a 40 per cent reduction on his Old Trafford wages. But with negotiations stalling, he is now prepared to tear up that arrangement and commit to a five-year deal instead – believing it may be the only way to make the transfer financially viable.
Barcelona’s well-documented financial constraints have complicated discussions, with the club favouring another loan move rather than a permanent transfer. The issue lies in how the £26.2m fee would be amortised across Rashford’s contract length, impacting the club’s balance sheet.
Manchester United, however, are refusing to sanction another temporary move and insist Rashford must leave permanently or not at all.
As a result, Rashford is willing to extend the proposed contract to five years, allowing Barcelona to spread the transfer cost over a longer period and significantly reduce the annual financial burden.

Rashford has 14 goals and 14 assists in 48 games for Barcelona, who have been impressed with his performances this season.
With Ruben Amorim – under whom Rashford’s relationship with Manchester United broke down – now no longer in charge, a reintegration at Old Trafford is not entirely off the table, particularly with Rashford’s former team-mate, Michael Carrick, expected to be named permanent manager in the coming days.
However, Rashford’s preference has remained consistent throughout the season: he wants to stay at Barcelona. Despite the managerial changes in Manchester and the potential for a fresh start, there is little indication that his stance on a long-term move to Spain has shifted.
