Forecasters have predicted a couple of thunderstorms to kick off the week in Edinburgh. We are creeping ever closer to the warmer weather, but in Scotland, the hot temperatures are often broken up by rain.

It’s no different for the city this week, with residents warned that Monday, May 17, will kick off with showers and light winds. This will persist well into the afternoon with the mercury reaching a peak of 13C as the first thunderstorm rolls in at 5pm.

Lightning could fill the capital sky up until 8pm if the meteorologists at the BBC are correct. The showers briefly die down overnight into Tuesday, 18, but it is a brief reprieve with the grey clouds emptying once more from 6am.

Tuesday will be a washout but its expected to feel humid with highs of 15C. Wednesday 19 starts as the previous day ended, with rain battering down on the capital throughout the morning and early afternoon.

A return of the thunderstorms is expected to befall the city at 1pm however the lightning is believed to make a short appearance. Temperatures will again reach their height at 15C and there is good news, as the rain dissipates around midnight before retreating for most of Thursday 20.

Those with weekend plans should check the forecast closer to the time with Edinburgh weather changing on an hourly basis – let alone weekly. However at the moment it is expected to be a rather dreich affair.
