Ahead of this afternoon’s remaining 1895 Cup quarter-finals, the draw details for the semi-finals of the competition have been confirmed.
The competition is a knock-out format for those teams below Super League, with last year’s winners York Knights securing a 5-4 victory at Wembley Stadium.
Midlands Hurricanes are the first team to secure their place in the last four, after they secured a 40-36 victory over Oldham RLFC.
The score was tied at 24-24 at half-time, and the closeness would continue for the remainder of the game, and it would be the away side who would eventually take the win.
Today’s action sees Rochdale Hornets take on Goole Vikings, Widnes Vikings face Newcastle Thunder and London Broncos welcome Doncaster.
The winners of today’s games will join Midlands in the semi-final spots, with the draw details for that stage of the competition now announced.
Interestingly, the seven remaining teams have never won the competition, so we are guaranteed a new name on the trophy.
In fact, only Widnes Vikings have reached the final, doing so in it’s inaugural year in 2019. All seven sides will see this piece of silverware as a key one to obtain, not least for the all-important extra IMG points it brings with it.
