Warrington Wolves

Over the weekend, Hull KR bolstered what is an already incredible squad even further, after announcing the signing of a former Tongan international.

Tevita Pangai Jr will join the Robins for the remainder of the season, in news that comes as somewhat of a surprise given he U-turned on his move to Warrington Wolves in pre-season.

The former Catalans man was set to sign for Wire for 2026, but in late October he backed out of that deal, declaring he would not be joining the club for the season ahead.

Weeks later, Pangai Jr found himself playing for French rugby union side Sporting Club Leucate, with the reason thought to be due to family, given that his wife was due to give birth at the time of the UK move.

However, he has now landed in England, and despite not playing a game for the Wolves, they will still benefit from the deal.

That is because Hull KR have paid a transfer fee to Warrington to secure Pangai Jr’s services.

Hull KR sign Tevita Pangai Jr

In what is his initial reaction to joining the Robins, Pangai Jr said: “I’m really excited to be joining Hull KR.

“I just want to thank Willie (Peters), Paul (Lakin) and the rest of the board for giving me this opportunity to join a winning culture and be in a great environment, which can hopefully allow me to play my best rugby.”

Boss Peters added: “We want to welcome Tevita Pangai Junior to Hull KR. Tevita has played at the highest level. “On his day, Tevita is one of the most devastating forwards in the game.

“Tevita is hungry and determined to win over the fans and his teammates.”
