WALK LIKE THE MAN‘s sole success over hurdles came at Plumpton and he registered his first win over fences when successful in a novice handicap over this course and distance in February.

The form of that worked out well, with two horses going on to win next time out, but Walks Like The Man could not reward good support in a similar event at Sandown, where he finished third. That was still a creditable effort, though, running to a similar level as at Plumpton, and he remains on a fair mark.

The Dream Goes On showed improved form when winning a novice handicap hurdle at Hereford last month and could provide the main threat on her chasing debut.

ELIZA DOLITTLE was successful over this course and distance in December and is only 1 lb higher now, so she gets the vote.

She was disappointing when dropped in trip on her penultimate start but gave a better account of herself at Fontwell last time, where she was still close up at the second last. She made the running when successful here and the pace forecast suggests she could get an uncontested lead.

Time For Tea remains a maiden but took a step back in the right direction when third at Southwell last time. So she could be the main danger.

GOD OF FIRE enjoyed a successful campaign on the Flat last year for Daniel and Claire Kubler, registering a hat-trick in handicap company and showing fairly useful form in the process.

He disappointed on his two Flat starts for the O’Neills but has been given a break and is an interesting recruit to hurdling.

He can make a winning start over jumps at the chief expense of Public Enemy, who showed something to work with when third on his hurdling debut at Taunton in February and is entitled to come on for the run.

DESPERAUX won back-to-back handicaps at Ludlow and Taunton in December and may well have registered a third win for the season had he not made a mistake at the final flight over course and distance last month.

That arguably proved the difference between winning and losing for Despereaux, who still ran well to finish seven lengths clear of the reopposing Warranty in third. That form was given a slight boost by the winner going on to win her next start.

Despereaux is 3 lb higher in the weights here but looks likely to give another good account and gets the vote.

ARENAS DEL TIEMPO was runner-up on her handicap hurdle debut at Fakenham last month and holds solid claims off just a 1 lb higher mark.

It’s not out of the question that she’ll progress over hurdles as she was a fair handicapper on the Flat, and Sean Bowen is a positive jockey booking.

She gets the vote over John Betjeman, who is on a long losing run over hurdles but has fallen in the weights and offered some encouragement when runner-up on his penultimate start, so he’s respected.

AJ’S DIAMOND showed plenty to work with when she was runner-up on debut at Warwick in February, finishing well clear of the rest, and she sets the standard on that effort.

She’s the percentage call, though Girlfromtheglen and Hard Market both have appealing pedigrees and represent powerful yards.

So any market support could be significant.
