It started this morning. We’re told it is a remote hearing, rather than in-person, which is standard.
Exactly when we get a decision will depend entirely on how the hearing goes. The EFL effectively act as prosecutor in the case, with Southampton the defendant and the three-man disciplinary commission will be the judge and jury.
The suggestion is that Southampton will accept the charge, which will mean they go straight to deciding the punishment. But if Southampton contest the charge then they’d have to first establish whether the rules were breached or not.
That will ultimately be the big factor in terms of timeframe.
There remains a hope that we get some kind of clarity today, but the only thing we know for certain right now is that a decision will be within the next 24 hours.
