A major emergency response was called to Oldham on Thursday evening (May 21) following reports of a woman in need of rescue in a canal.
Police, fire crews and paramedics were seen along Middleton Road beside Mills Hill train station in Chadderton at around 5pm. Emergency crews attended a concern for welfare report.
The Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said water incident teams also attended and rescued a woman from the water, who was later rushed to hospital. No further details have been confirmed.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed they were in attendance following a concern for welfare call.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “Just after 5pm on Thursday 21 May, fire crews were called to reports of a person in the water at the Rochdale Canal, near Middleton Road in Chadderton.
“Two fire engines from Chadderton and Blackley, as well as the water incident unit from Heywood and the technical rescue unit from Leigh, were quickly mobilised to the scene.
“Firefighters used a specialist ladder to rescue a woman from the water. She was transferred to the care of North West Ambulance Service and taken to hospital. Fire crews were in attendance for about an hour.”
