Bungie was a $3.6 billion acquisition for Sony a couple of years back, purchased to help spearhead PlayStation’s push into the live service sector. With only Helldivers 2 to consider a success from the initiative, it’s been nothing short of a disaster.
Now, as Bungie tries to work out its own future, Sony has taken more control of the team in recent months. A third entry in the Destiny series was always seen as the project that could resurrect Bungie, but following today’s report, it sounds like that potential hasn’t even been greenlit yet — or won’t be at all.
