There’s confusion about whether Xbox is going to backtrack on its commitment to PS5, after it said it would “re-evaluate” exclusivity under its new leadership.
But whatever it decides, Playground’s upcoming Fable reboot will release on Sony’s console, with a date presumably coming this summer, during the Xbox Showcase.
Fable will be available at launch on Xbox Series X/S, Game Pass, Steam and PlayStation 5 👍— Fable (@fable) May 20, 2026
Writing on X (or Twitter), the dev reiterated in response to a fan request that the Playground developed RPG will launch on the PS5. It’s not yet clear, but we’re expecting this to be available day-and-date, unlike Forza Horizon 6, which is coming later this year.
There’s no word on a release date for Fable just yet, but officially it’s due out in 2026. However, there have been reports Xbox may delay the game into 2027 due to the impending arrival of GTA 6.
One good sign is the emergence of Korean and Australian ratings, spotted on the ResetEra forums earlier today. While not necessarily evidence of an imminent release, their emergence does suggest the game is now close.
