Family and friends are honouring the memory of a beloved Bristol barber following his sudden death.

Mark Demmery, who worked at Lee’s Barbershop in Warmley, was aged just 51 when he suffered a bleed on the brain.

Loved ones have launched a GoFundMe page to honour him and ‘give him the best send off possible’.

The campaign has so far raised almost £6,160 of the £7,000 target, with 174 donations in just three days.

The fundraiser reads: “No parents should have to bury their child and to ease the burden we’ve set up a GoFundMe to honour Mark and give him the best send off possible that he deserves.”

The page goes on to detail that any money left over will be put behind the bar at The Dolphin pub in Oldland Common for loved ones to have a drink in Mark’s memory.

It’s also hoped that a bench can be placed in the beer garden of the popular local to become a place where those who knew Mark can sit and have a drink and “remember all the funny times and laughter they spent with Mark”.

Donations will also be made to the Intensive Care Unit at Bath RUH ‘for the fantastic care Mark received’ and ‘where they fought so hard to save him’.

Sharing the GoFundMe page to its Facebook profile earlier this week, the team at The Dolphin said: “Please support our dear friend Mark Demmery and his family in giving him the best send off he could ask for.”

There have been hundreds of comments across various Facebook pages and profiles remembering Mark, who was well known and loved in his local area, calling him a ‘true gentleman’, a ‘legend’, ‘one of a kind’ and ‘the life and soul of the party’.
