A couple have been left badly shaken after being tied up in their home during an early morning burglary in Co Derry.

Two masked men entered a property in Formoyle Road area of Macosquin, near Coleraine, at around 1.15am on Saturday.

A man in his 70s and a woman in her 60s were tied up during the incident, during which demands were made for money.

The men left the property taking two mobile phones, a watch and the keys for a blue Nissan Juke.

They drove off in the vehicle, which was last seen at the Moore Road area of Derry shortly after 2am.

Police said the couple were not injured, “but were left badly shaken by the incident”, according to Detective Inspector Lenaghan.

“Enquiries are continuing and we would appeal to anyone with any information in relation to this incident, to contact detectives on 101 quoting reference number 99 23/05/26.”
