AN EDINBURGH community hub has announced a programme of free events to mark Great Big Green Week.
The Hub@531, located at 531 Lanark Road in the Juniper Green area of the capital, is hosting activities for all ages from 5-14 June for Great Big Green Week, the UK’s largest annual celebration of community action to tackle climate change and protect nature.
Free spaces are available to book for family-friendly events, which range from pebble art to creative writing workshops.

For younger children :
- Friday 5 June 2:30-4pm | Pebble Art
The Hub@531 will have pebbles, paints and pens for kids to make their own creations (ages 5+), or have a go at Japanese rock wrapping (ages 8+ to adult) using string and natural objects to create beautiful decorative pieces.
Supported by outdoor education specialists Earth Calling, folks are invited to come along, get their feet wet and take a close up look at the wildlife that lives in the river.
- Saturday 6 June 2-3pm | Seed planting
Using recycled rubbish to plant in, kids can plant a mini garden to grow at home. Suitable for children accompanied by an adult, ages 8+

- Tuesday 9 June 4-5:30pm | Kids Love Clothes mini sortathon
The Hub@531 invites people to join them in helping sort donated clothing items ready to take along to the charity’s unit at Ratho Mains Farm.
For older children with an interest in environmental issues :
OCEAN screening (PG 90 mins), narrated by David Attenborough, with an optional post-screening discussion about the issues covered in the film.
Why Not Scotland screening (PG 60 mins), by Rewilding Nation, with an optional post-screening discussion.
Creative Writing inspired by nature, workshop with poet and writer, Helen Boden, suitable for ages 16+
