LOVES PARK, Ill. (WIFR) – 20 men’s and 20 women’s collegiate ultimate frisbee teams are in the Rockford region this week for the 2026 USA Ultimate Division I College Championships.
This is the first time the Rockford region’s hosted this championship since the Division III tourney came here in 2018. This is also the second time USA Ultimate brought the Division I tournament to Illinois.
“This is one of the best events we’ve been a part of. The weather’s been fantastic. The local support’s been fantastic. The competition’s been very good,“ said USA Ultimate Managing Communications Director Andy Lee. ”We’ve been growing pre-pandemic pretty steadily then like a lot of sports we’ve hit a bit of a bump in the road. But we’re ramping it back up and we’re coming back to pre-pandemic numbers.”

Things conclude Monday with the national championship in both divisions. The women’s championship will kick off at noon between Carleton College and British Columbia followed by Massachusetts and Carleton in the men’s division.
