Copperfield 10yr anniversary exhibition during London Gallery Weekend 2024
London Gallery Weekend returns from 5th–7th June for its sixth edition, bringing together more than 120 galleries across the capital alongside a city-wide programme of exhibitions, performances, talks and public events.
Now firmly established as a key moment in the international arts calendar, this year’s edition reflects London’s continually evolving gallery landscape, with nine first-time participants joining the programme and several galleries opening new or expanded spaces across the city.
Alongside major exhibitions opening throughout central, east and south London, this year’s edition will include more than 80 free events ranging from artist talks and exhibition walkthroughs to performances, workshops, book signings and live music.
Jeremy Epstein and Sarah Rustin, Co-Directors of London Gallery Weekend, said:
“London Gallery Weekend’s sixth edition is a convening moment that is both local and global in its scope and audience, reflecting the year-on-year revitalisation and evolution of the capital’s contemporary art scene.”
They continued:
“A principal goal for LGW is galvanising new audiences to explore the evolving spectrum of participating spaces that make London’s gallery landscape singular – an array of gallery models, generations and approaches to supporting and showcasing artistic practice.”
Among the live events taking place across the weekend are performances by Russell Perkins at Public Gallery, Caroline Aguirre at Palmer Gallery and Yijia Wu at KRUPA, alongside artist-led exhibition tours with Dale Lewis at Edel Assanti, Patricia Piccinini at Ames Yavuz and John Riddy at Frith Street Gallery.
Elsewhere, talks and in-conversations include Lubaina Himid and Magda Stawarska at Lisson Gallery, Oliver Beer with Rufus Wainwright at Thaddaeus Ropac, and Ravelle Pillay in conversation with Dr Zoé Whitley at Goodman Gallery.
Returning for 2026 are LGW’s Curated Routes — guided journeys through the city’s galleries devised by prominent cultural figures including Lauren Cuthbertson, Sally Tallant, architect Sumayya Vally, designer Giles Deacon and musician Kelly Lee Owens.
The programme also continues to introduce initiatives designed to strengthen the wider gallery ecosystem. New for 2026 is the LGW x Arts Council Collection Under 40 Acquisition Fund, which will support younger collectors acquiring works by UK-based artists, with acquisitions entering the national collection.
Major exhibitions opening during the weekend include rare early works by Christo at Gagosian, a solo exhibition by Keith Piper at Niru Ratnam, new films by Helen Marten at Sadie Coles HQ, Shao Fan’s first exhibition in the UK and new work by Yinka Ilori at Cristea Roberts Gallery.
New and expanded spaces participating this year include Sadie Coles HQ’s new Savile Row gallery, Maureen Paley’s fourth space on Herald Street and Modern Art’s new St James’s location.
Since launching, London Gallery Weekend has welcomed more than 250,000 visitors, continuing to position itself as both a celebration of London’s gallery scene and an evolving platform connecting galleries, artists, institutions and audiences across the city.
