Glasgow street locked down after ‘shooting’ as elderly man rushed to hospital
A pensioner has been rushed to hospital following a ‘shooting’ on a Glasgow street.
Armed police rushed to Crichton Street in Springburn this afternoon. The alarm was raised around 12.40pm on Thursday, May 28.
A 78-year-old man was blue-lighted to hospital for treatment to a non-life-threatening injury. Officers have locked down Crichton Street at Gourlay Street and members of the public are strongly advised to avoid the area.

Officers remain on the scene and a search of the area is being carried out to find the suspect. Police say firearms officers are in attendance “as a precaution”.
The force say extensive enquiries are ongoing. Anyone with information has been urged to approach officers or contact 101.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 12.40pm on Thursday, 28 May, 2026, we received a report of a man injured by a possible firearm outside an address on Crichton Street in Springburn, Glasgow.
“Police are in attendance and a search of the area is being carried out. Specialist firearms officers are also in attendance, as a precaution, and extensive enquiries are ongoing.
“The man, aged 78, has been taken to hospital for treatment to a non-life-threatening injury.
“Crichton Street is closed at Gourlay Street and people are advised to avoid the area while enquiries are carried out.
“Anyone with any concerns or information can approach officers, or call 101 using reference number 1478 of Thursday, 28 May, 2026.”
