A pair of properties in Clifton have sold for nearly £700,000 over their guide price at auction.
The twin properties on Belgrave Road, between Whiteladies Road and Cotham Hill, have been used as offices for many years.
They went under the hammer during the Hollis Morgan May auction, attracting a winning bid of £1.64 million against a guide price of £995,000
“In the world of antiques, it’s a well-known rule that a matching pair will always command a premium,” auctioneer Olly Hollis.
“But does that same rule apply to property? It certainly does.
“At the Hollis Morgan May auction, an adjoining pair of semi-detached period properties went under the hammer, and the results were absolutely spectacular.

The properties offer a substantial 6,374 sq. ft. of space across three floors, complete with a large rear garden and off-street parking. They are located next to Woodland Court, a Bristol University Hall of Residence for postgraduate students.
Having been used as offices for a considerable period of time, the buildings have potential for continued commercial use. Alternatively, they could be turned into flats or converted back into two grand homes – or even one huge house with space for eight bedrooms and four bathrooms.

The properties were sold with vacant possession, meaning the winning bidder can start transforming them after the September completion date, subject to obtaining the necessary consents.
A delighted Mr Hollis said he couldn’t believe the ‘electric’ atmosphere that developed when the lot came up for auction.
“When bidding started, the energy of the online bidders, proxy and telephone bidders was electric,” he said.
“The initial guide price of £995,000 was completely overtaken as the bids kept coming, with the hammer finally falling at an amazing £1.64 million!
“A huge congratulations to the sellers and a big well done to the buyers who secured a truly unique BS8 double act. What a result!”
