Most modern smartphones have big screens, fast processors, and excellent cameras. One thing they don’t usually have? Headphone jacks. That’s a feature that’s still common on budget phones and some mid-range models, but most premium phone makers have gone all-in on wireless audio (or USB-C dongles).
Sony’s latest flagship bucks the trend. Not only does it have a headphone jack, but the Sony Xperia 1 VII also borrows a bunch of high-end audio features from Sony’s Walkman family. It also borrows from the company’s TV lineup with a BRAVIA-powered display and other premium features. But it’s an expensive phone that’s up for pre-order for €1,499 ($1680) in Europe or £1,399 ($1860) and up in the UK. It’s not expected to be available in the US.
Here’s a roundup of recent tech news from around the web.
Sony Xperia 1 VII is a flagship phone with a headphone jack (and high-end audio components borrowed from the Walkman) plus a 6.5 inch OLED display, 12GB RAM, Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, and an AI auto-framing camera feature. Unlikely to launch in the US though. www.engadget.com/mobile/smart…
