Emmerdale fans are convinced they know who really pushed Joe Tate after a dramatic showdown at Home Farm saw him fall through the window. Kim Tate found him lifeless on the ground before he was rushed to hospital.

The accident has led to a huge ‘whodunnit’ twist, as Joe, played by Ned Porteous, is currently fighting for his life. There are nine potential culprits who have been questioned by the police, including Billy Fletcher, Dawn Fletcher and their daughter Clemmie, Kerry Wyatt, Noah Dingle, Charity Dingle, Manpreet Sharma and Caleb and Ruby Fox-Miligan.

Each suspect had their own motive to harm Joe. The character arrived back in the Yorkshire Dales last year and was quick to ruffle feathers.

He returned to the village with chronic kidney disease and was determined to do anything he could to seek a kidney transplant in secret. He had targeted his nearest and dearest, initially drugging his half-brother Noah Dingle which led to the tragic limo crash killing Suzy Merton, Leyla Harding and Amy Wyatt.

Joe eventually decided to steal his uncle Caleb’s kidney. After a planned stabbing, Caleb was taken to a clinic where his kidney was removed and given to Joe.

If a secret medical plot wasn’t enough, Joe also managed to break up Dawn and Billy Fletcher’s marriage. Dawn found herself falling in love with the village bad boy as they began a lustful affair behind her husband Billy’s back.

Billy and Dawn are guardians of ten-year-old Clemmie, who was furious when she found out about Dawn’s secret relationship. Joe started to threaten and blackmail Clemmie so she would keep quiet.

But when Billy found out about Joe’s behaviour, he was eager to get his revenge. The party at Home Farm revealed all of Joe’s deepest and darkest secrets, causing his enemies to unite.

Earlier this week, Dawn opened up to Billy and told him it was she who pushed Joe. The couple have now pretended to get back together as a way to mask their real anger against Joe.

Billy told her: “Look Dawn I will protect you and our family no matter what. I’ll never let you down, I promise.” They believe their lie will make the police drop their suspicions.

Despite Dawn admitting she was responsible, Emmerdale fans are convinced that someone else is to blame – Clemmie. Taking to social media, one user said: “I’m still convinced Dawn did not do the attack”, while another wrote: “I don’t buy it for one second that it was Dawn who pushed Joe , my guess is she is covering for Clemmie.”

Viewers believe Dawn was too madly in love with Joe to push him out of the window. Clemmie, on the other hand, was eager to get her revenge as she knows he is the reason why Billy and Dawn are no longer together.

Other fans added to the conversation on X: “I’m late to the party, but does anyone else think Dawn is covering for Clemmie when she confessed to pushing Joe?”

More agreed: “Obviously Dawn covering for Clemmie” as another user said: “No way did Dawn push Joe. She was madly in love with him and was ready to go public and make it official. Who’s she covering for then? Has to be Clemmie.”

Elsewhere on the soap, Charity and Noah were also taken in for questioning. Viewers will have to wait to find out the truth, as Dawn revealed that the doctors planned to wake Joe from his coma over the next couple of days.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV. Episodes are released on ITVX each day at 7am
