Two established names in Scotland’s industrial engineering sector are coming together under a single globally recognised brand as MB Air Systems and Scot Industrial Air transition to become Ingersoll Rand Industrial Solutions.
The move marks the culmination of an 18-month integration process that brings together decades of technical expertise, regional knowledge and customer support under one unified business.

Operating across locations including Hamilton, Aberdeen and Inverness, the newly branded organisation will continue supporting customers throughout Scotland while benefiting from the wider resources, innovation and global backing of Ingersoll Rand.
Regional director Derek Leith said the transition marks a natural progression for the business rather than a departure from its identity.
“It’s been a very positive and purposeful period for us,” he said.
“Over the past 18 months, we’ve focused on growing the business in a structured way – bringing in new capabilities, strengthening the team and expanding what we can offer to customers.
“The aim has been to build a more complete and future-ready organisation, rather than simply increasing scale.”
MB Air Systems has long supported businesses across the Highlands and Islands and throughout Scotland with compressed air, nitrogen and industrial system solutions.
The business has built a strong reputation for supporting customers across sectors including manufacturing, food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, energy and industrial processing.
North Scotland sales lead Daniel Tritton said the rebrand represents the next step in the company’s ongoing development.
“We’ve been operating since the 1970s in various guises and MB Air Systems became part of Ingersoll Rand in 2017,” he said.
“What’s happening now is the amalgamation of MB Air Systems and Scot Industrial Air into one company – Ingersoll Rand Industrial Solutions – bringing everything together under one brand moving forward.”
Importantly for customers across the north of Scotland and more remote locations, the company says the integration has strengthened its ability to support businesses wherever they are based.

“We were both serving complementary industries and customer bases and combining the two teams has given us the critical mass to ensure that our customers are well served in the most remote locations,” Mr Leith said.
The company’s expertise in compressed air systems, nitrogen generation and industrial technologies has become increasingly important as businesses continue to face rising energy costs, ageing infrastructure and growing pressure to improve sustainability performance while maintaining productivity.
“Many organisations are dealing with rising energy costs, ageing assets and the need to minimise downtime,” Mr Leith said.
“At the same time, there’s increasing pressure to improve productivity while meeting sustainability targets. Balancing all of that can be quite challenging.”
He added that the business is focused on helping customers optimise systems through energy-efficient equipment, improved system design and proactive maintenance approaches designed to reduce inefficiencies and improve long-term reliability.

While rebrands can sometimes create uncertainty, Mr Leith stressed that continuity has remained a central focus throughout the transition process.
“The key message is continuity with added strength,” he said.
“The same people, relationships and expertise remain in place but they’re now supported by the resources and capabilities of a global organisation.”
The move to Ingersoll Rand Industrial Solutions will also provide customers with access to a wider portfolio of technologies, enhanced technical support and global best practice, while retaining the responsive local service the business has become known for across Scotland.
For Mr Leith, the most exciting part of the next chapter is combining local experience with international expertise.
“We now have access to wider expertise, technology and innovation, which gives us a great platform for future growth,” he said.
“Our ambition is to continue building on this momentum, growing the business, expanding our capabilities and strengthening our customer relationships.
“Ultimately, we want to be seen as a trusted partner that consistently delivers value.”
