Nicola Peltz has been at the centre of a long-running feud with her mother-in-law Victoria Beckham, with the pair said to have ‘never really got along’

Nicola Peltz and Brooklyn Beckham appear to be more estranged from his family than ever, following years of strained relations. The pair tied the knot in 2022, but their journey hasn’t been without its bumps.
This is particularly due to Nicola’s alleged early disagreements with Victoria Beckham. Nicola, 30, and Victoria, 51, reportedly had a significant falling out during the wedding preparations, when David Beckham’s wife found it “difficult” to step back as the Peltz family took the reins of the wedding planning.
Tensions reached a peak over a dispute about Nicola’s wedding dress, which was initially supposed to be designed by Victoria. When fans were surprised to see Nicola donning Valentino couture instead, she hinted that her mother-in-law was the one who let her down.
She clarified: “Well, I was planning on wearing Victoria’s wedding dress. I was truly so excited to be able to wear a design that my future mother-in-law created. We connected to start designing the dress, and then a few days went by and I didn’t hear anything. Victoria called my mom and said her atelier couldn’t make it.”
Fashion has seemingly caused further rifts between Nicola and Victoria, with insiders claiming that one particular outfit choice by the heiress was the most peculiar move she’s made to send a veiled message to Brooklyn’s mum, reports the Mirror.

In February 2024, Nicola was snapped clutching Brooklyn’s hand during a stroll, donning an eye-catching blue and white Dolce and Gabbana biker jacket – the very same garment Victoria sported at Old Trafford while watching Manchester United lift the Premier League trophy back in 2001.
The distinctive jacket became an instant talking point among fans, who remembered it from Victoria’s iconic moment on the terraces, leading to speculation that Nicola might have been given the green light to raid Victoria’s legendary 2000s wardrobe, as Vogue mused that she had been “granted access to her mother-in-law’s personal archive of noughties fashion”. However, this notion was swiftly discredited, with insiders indicating that Victoria hadn’t extended such an olive branch of approval.
One insider remarked: “If not obsessive, it was definitely the most bizarre behaviour especially given relations weren’t the greatest anyway in the wake of the wedding.”
Friends of Nicola confided that the notorious jacket was actually a purchase by her own mother back in September 2023, unbeknownst to her that Victoria had once worn it. Although the style is intimately associated with Victoria, Nicola is said to have imagined it could bridge some gap with the renowned designer.
“Nicola. however. did recognise the jacket and thought it was sweet to wear something her mother-in-law had worn,” one friend commented. “Nicola has only ever attempted to be close to the Beckhams as she’s close with her own family.”
Victoria seemingly engaged in a bit of tit-for-tat last month when she donned a bespoke corset for her 51st birthday celebrations – the same corset that was originally designed for Nicola. Nicola had worn the corset to the debut of her movie Lola the previous year, and in April 2024, she posted a nostalgic photo with Victoria to celebrate her 50th birthday, captioning it, “Happy Birthday to my beautiful MIL.”
This year, however, Brooklyn and Nicola did not publicly acknowledge his mother’s birthday, despite Victoria’s pointed fashion choice.
Amidst the subtle tension between Nicola and her in-laws, sources claim that the Beckhams are eager to mend the divide, with David reportedly willing to “fly out to see him” Brooklyn if necessary.
“They are going to put this fire out; David has said that he wants the dust to settle and for everyone to talk when emotions have settled down,” a source disclosed to Hello! magazine.
The same source suggested that since becoming part of the family, Nicola hasn’t shown much “respect towards the family”. They elaborated: “Tensions rose at their wedding and that situation has continued; Victoria and Nicola don’t really get along. Over the past few months, Nicola has been causing things to fester and everyone to fall out.”
