Former world snooker champion Graeme Dott has been charged with alleged child sex offences.
Dott, 47, has been charged in relation to historic offences towards two children in Scotland between 1993 and 2010. The children were aged around 10 at the time.
The first charge was between 1993 and 1996, and the second was between 2006 and 2010.
The World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) confirmed Dott had been suspended while the case is ongoing.
He is set to appear in Glasgow High Court for a preliminary hearing on June 11.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 47-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with non-recent sexual offences which happened in Glasgow and Larkhall between 1993 and 2010. A report was submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
A WPBSA statement read: “Graeme Dott has been suspended by the WPBSA due to a case which is scheduled to be heard before the High Court in Scotland.
“Whilst court proceedings are ongoing, it would be inappropriate for the WPBSA to make any further comment.”
Dott’s suspension comes days before the beginning of the 2025 World Snooker Championship. The Scott, ranked 56 in the world, had been due to compete in the second round of qualifying on April 11.
Dott turned professional in 1994 and won the 2006 World Snooker Championship at the Crucible in Sheffield. He was also a beaten finalist in the competition in 2004 and 2010.
