Greater Manchester Police has issued a statement after singer Chris Brown, 36, was arrested while staying at a five-star hotel in Manchester.

The ‘Beautiful People’ singer was arrested at 2am this morning (May 15) during his stay at The Lowry Hotel over an alleged bottle attack that took place two years ago, the Mirror has reported.

Greater Manchester Police has confirmed officers arrested a 36-year-old man on behalf of the Metropolitan Police at the hotel.

This afternoon, Greater Manchester Police issued a statement on the Lowry Hotel arrest, saying: “This morning (Thursday 15 May) we arrested a 36-year-old man at a hotel in Manchester on suspicion of grievous bodily harm on behalf of the Metropolitan Police.”

It was reported that the cause for arrest was due to suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm to music producer Abe Diaw at Tape nightclub.

Chris arrived into Manchester on Wednesday (14th May) afternoon by private jet, landing at Manchester Airport.

In a statement, The Met told The Sun: ‘”A 36-year-old man was arrested at a hotel in Manchester shortly after 02:00hrs on Thursday, 15 May on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

“He has been taken into custody where he remains. The arrest relates to an incident at a venue in Hanover Square on 19 February 2023. The investigation is being led by detectives from the Central West Area Basic Command Unit.”

The bottle incident allegedly occurred in a nightclub in London in 2023. In October 2023, music producer Abe Diaw claimed he was assaulted by Chris Brown in a lawsuit.

The court documents alleged he suffered “severe and lasting injuries” after being beaten “over the head.”
