The maternity unit at the Royal Stoke University Hospital in Stoke-on-Trent was reportedly placed on lockdown on the afternoon of Friday, May 16. The report comes from a visitor to the hospital, who claimed to have heard staff telling the security to block the front door to the unit.
The source, who spoke to StokeonTrentLive, said: “There is an undisclosed incident going on at the maternity unit at Royal Stoke. Nobody can get in or out of the main doors. They’ve put barriers in front of the doors and people are being redirected out of a different exit that staff use.”
