Princess Kate once revealed a passionate hobby that husband, Prince William, has branded as “crazy”. Kate spoke about her sporting antics when she, William, and Princess Anne sat down with Mike Tindall for an episode of his podcast ‘The Good, the Bad and the Rugby’ at Windsor Castle.

During the conversation with Mike Tindall, who has been married to Zara Tindall since 2011, Kate divulged her lifelong commitment to physical activity. “I really generally love all sports,” the Princess told Tindall, a former professional rugby player.

“Personally, I love swimming. I absolutely love it. The colder the better. I absolutely love it.”

William shortly after remarked: “Catherine, you’re crazy.”

Kate also said: “I can always remember being physical, using our bodies, whether it’s walking, climbing the Lake District, in Scotland [or] swimming from a young age. [My parents] always encouraged us to be physically active and sporty and they always encouraged us into doing team sports and trying things.”

During the podcast episode in September, 2023, Kate also revealed how the royal pair are competitive when it comes to playing tennis. “I don’t think we’ve managed to finish a game of tennis, the two of us,” Kate added. “It becomes a mental challenge between the two of us.”

When Mike asked if any of their competitiveness had passed down to their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, the Princess Royal said: “Just a little bit, I would suggest.”

“What I think is really interesting is that they are all obviously very different temperaments,” Kate said, adding that “they are growing and trying out different sports.”

She added: “They’re obviously still really young. It’s going to be interesting to see how that grows and develops.”

‘The Good, the Bad and the Rugby’ is a weekly podcast starring former England legends James Haskell and Mike Tindall, alongside noted broadcaster Alex Payne, that debuted at No. 1 in the Apple charts before releasing its first episode.

In Mike’s book, titled ‘The Good, the Bad and the Rugby – Unleased’, writing specifically about the Prince and Princess of Wales, Mike wrote: “I think the podcast humanised them a little bit, and I kind of wish they’d let us put the uncut version out, because it would have blown the public away.”

Mike and Zara met in 2003 during England’s World Cup-winning run in Australia and married in Scotland in July 2011, three months after William and Kate married at Westminster Abbey in London.
