The artist’s impressions show what a new city centre pub in Sheffield will look like later this autumn.
Thornbridge & Co took over the old Yorkshire Bank building at the top of Fargate on the corner of Surrey Street. Opposite Sheffield Town Hall, the brewery says the pub, which will be called “The Fargate”, will be set over two floors and feature an outdoor area capable of hosting up to 250 people.
An artist impressions show how the pub will look in the curved building. Featuring gold signage and classic pub interior, Sheffield City Council hopes it will be a major part of the Fargate regeneration that opened earlier this year.

After the shipping container disaster, Fargate has been left underfunded and in significant need of renovation. Substantial works to open up the city with new planters, benches and paving opened in April, and the council says it is looking forward to seeing The Fargate completed.
Cllr Ben Miskell, chair of Sheffield City Council’s Transport, Regeneration and Climate Committee, said: “We look forward to seeing The Fargate completed and open for business, adding yet another brilliant venue for the people of Sheffield to enjoy a drink and bite to eat.”

Simon Webster, CEO and co-founder of Thornbridge & Co, said: “This project has been over two years in the making, and we’re thrilled to be nearing the finish line. We can’t wait to welcome the people of Sheffield and become a part of this dynamic and evolving city centre.”
The council also said footfall in the city centre has improved this year. It said the city centre saw 3% more visitors between March 3 and April 6 this year compared to the same period last year, while there was a 14% rise in footfall on Fargate in the same period.
Cllr Miskell added: “It’s fantastic to see so many people are coming out to the city centre to enjoy this great run of weather we have recently had.
“We hope people have been enjoying the many amazing options for things to do across the city centre. In particular, it’s been great to see the number of people walking along Fargate increase as people came out to see the Fargate works completed.”
