Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, paid a subtle tribute to King Charles during day four of the Royal Windsor Horse Show. As Vice-President of the equestrian event – which was beloved by Sophie’s mother-in-law, Queen Elizabeth – Sophie was in high spirits at Home Park, Windsor Castle, and clearly the Duchess had her family in mind as she dressed for the festivities.
Riding in a horse-drawn carriage through the Castle Arena alongside Boyd Exell, the number one carriage driver in the world, the Duchess of Edinburgh was pure country chic in an Eleventy wool blazer and a floral dress by Zimmermann, which she paired with a favourite pair of Giulia Barela gold earrings and her badge of the Royal Windsor Horse Club.
But it was another accessory that caught the attention of royal watchers: the cornflowers that the Duchess had pinned to her lapel. Not only did the pale blue perfectly complement Sophie’s spring ensemble, but the flower is known to be a favourite of King Charles’s, leaving commentators wondering whether the Duchess may have chosen the piece in tribute to her brother-in-law.
