Greater Manchester Police have issued us with the following statement: “We were called shortly today (Monday 19 May 2025) to a report of an injured man on Oldham Street at around 2.15pm.

“The man – aged 31– appeared to have suffered stab injuries and has been taken to hospital to receive treatment.

“No arrests have been made, but officers remain in the area to investigate to build a full timeline of events leading up to the man receiving his injuries.

“We’d like to thank the public for their patience as Oldham Street has been cordoned off whilst officers remain in the area. Neighbourhood police officers are conducting additional patrols in the area to reassure local residents and those passing through the city centre.

“If anyone witnessed this incident or has any information at all, please speak to us as soon as possible. Even the smallest piece of information could prove vital in helping us to complete our enquiries.
