After years of rumors, it turns out that Marvel Studios Ghost Rider film came together quickly. According to director Shawn Levy, it only took a six-minute pitch from star Ryan Gosling to convince him to helm the 2028 film.
Though it was announced at SDCC ’26, few details about Ghost Rider are available at the moment as Jonathan Tropper works on the script. Gosling is rumored to be playing Johnny Blaze in the film, which will also reportedly feature the return of Sacha Baron Cohen as Mephisto, though a casting search for the film’s main villain remains ongoing.
As the search for clues about the film continues, one tantalizing tidbit that should provide some assistance in tracking production has come up: Disney has created a new production company, Throttle Productions LLC, that would seem reasonable to associate with Ghost Rider.

Though there’s no confirmation just yet that Ghost Rider will film under Throttle Productions, or that the LLC is a Marvel Studios company, the registered company has all the hallmarks of a traditional Marvel LLC.
It clearly fits the motorcycle-heavy aesthetic of Ghost Rider and has only been registered in the United States (Levy‘s film is rumored to be filming in California, Oregon and Nevada) and the timing of its creation aligns neatly with work officially beginning on the project.
We’ll keep on top of things with the new company and will be able to confirm whether or not it is a Marvel Studios project in the next month or so. Ghost Rider is due in theaters on May 5, 2028.
