Holidays could be “ruined”, warns a nationwide campaign that’s in place across more than 20 UK airports. The One Too Many scheme, backed by the Government, says travellers must “fly responsibly” or else “pay the price”.

Ahead of what is set to be a hugely busy summer for international travel, One Too Many highlights that having too much to drink at the terminal could lead to disastrous consequences. Notices warn: “One too many is all it takes to ruin a holiday, cause a delay, land YOU in jail, cancel a flight, [and/or] divert a plane”.

Should a traveller disrupt a flight, they might be refused boarding, banned for life by the airline, or slapped with a fine of up to £80,000 if they cause a mid-air incident that leads to a flight diversion. One Too Many campaign assets can now be seen at more than 20 major UK airports, including Bristol, Liverpool John Lennon, London Gatwick, London Heathrow, Manchester, and Newcastle International.

The Chief Executive of the Airport Operators Association, Karen Dee, said: “UK airports are committed to providing a safe and enjoyable travel experience for all passengers. We urge travellers to enjoy their journeys responsibly and not ruin their holidays or the holidays of others.”

“Airports will continue to monitor and act against any disruptive behaviour to ensure everyone’s safety.” The One Too Many campaign launched in 2018, with backing from the government, including endorsements from the Department for Transport and the Home Office.
