It could be worth taking a chance with the relatively unexposed TOFINO who ended last season with an encouraging nursery run. The vastly experienced Comfort Line has a better record at Dundalk than on turf, but still deserves respect in a race of this standard. Pinball Wizard has returned to John Nallen and has a leading chance in this grade, having won over this trip during his spell in Britain. Tuesday’s winner Nezeeh commands respect.
Normal improvement from her debut at Cork might be enough to see INVENTRESS get the better of Luscious, who showed potential in two outings at two. Edge Of Seventeen ran creditably on the first of two starts last year and had an excuse on her second start. This looks like a deeper race than the one in which Lady Lilac,, Its All Peachy and Staywitherjohnny made the frame here last month.
This should be straightforward for PIERRE ROYAL, runner-up in a much stronger maiden than this on his debut over C&D two weeks ago. Using the 88-rated winner and the 85-rated third as yardsticks, he can be fancied to cope with Bishopton who has been placed four times but is vulnerable based on his 74 rating. Newcomer, Limbocall, may pose a bigger threat.
A 10lb rise in the weights may not be enough to stop the in-form HARRY THE ROGUE gaining his third win in four starts after a comfortable Killarney success last week and Sam Coen who has is good value for the 7lb he can still claim, retains the partnership. Saxon Kingdom wasn’t far behind the selection and finds himself 9lb better off while Gianh River is another that looks capable having gone close over course and distance last time out.
A heavy ground winner in France, LEMSAIRBAT (nap) looks like the one to beat after a big run from a poor draw at Sligo just 17 days ago and expect her to take a sizeable step forward from that yard debut. Deressa looks like the pick of the Dermot Weld pair and she can give the selection most to think about after beating a nice prospect from Ballydoyle last time.
A case can be made for plenty of these with a chance taken on the four-year-old filly MISS GITANA who met some trouble in running on last month’s return to the level and she’s feasibly treated on her form from Britain. Having looked highly progressive last season, Empress Alma will be a threat if fully tuned up for her return and Disco Boy ought to appreciate a greater test of stamina after a promising handicap debut last month. Star Official arrives on the back of a recent hurdle success and isn’t one to rule out back on the Flat.
Saturday’s winner, MAKAIAH looks like the one to side with after getting her first win on the board on Saturday and a 7lb penalty may not stop her given that she was well on top on the line. You Make Me Smile is an obvious threat having had the selection in behind at Sligo but the selection is fancied to reverse the form given that she has untapped potential on the level.
