The first phase of a huge new housing estate on grassland in Bamford could soon be delivered.

A parcel of land off Greenvale in the Rochdale area is set to see 43 new homes built on it. This would be the first of 450 earmarked for Bamford by developers Wain Homes.

The new ‘high quality’ family homes would have a mix of two, three, four and five bedrooms, with access onto Greenvale.

Each of the 46 homes, sitting next to a series of ponds, would have private gardens and off-street parking provision.

As part of the wider scheme, the local sports pitches would be kept and improved with a new road and footpath network being built throughout the new neighbourhood.

The wider housing development forms part of the Places for Everyone (PfE) plan, which is a joint development plan for nine Greater Manchester districts to build thousands of new homes and jobs in the city region over the next two decades.

Rochdale as a whole would see 10,500 new houses built under PfE, with this site providing a large proportion of those homes.

Planning papers read: “The proposed development would deliver a range of high quality, high specification homes for the local community in a sustainable location.”

The planning team at Rochdale Council will make a decision on the plan over the next few months.
