Fire crews have been spotted using “axes and saws” to “break down a wall” as they tackled a blaze at a premises in Edinburgh.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service first received reports of the incident on Duke Street, in the Leith area, at around 4pm on Saturday, May 24.
Police are also on scene, with the street cordoned off to the public. It is understood the fire started in the basement of a Chinese restaurant.
A local resident who saw the scene unfold told our sister title Edinburgh Live: “There’s four fire trucks and police and the streets all taped off.
“They’re using axes and saws to break down a wall, because there’s fire coming from the basement in The Lucky Buddha.”
A picture taken from behind the cordon shows several fire engines in the road, with around eight firefighters gathered around the entrance to the restaurant.
Smoke still appears to be billowing out from its front door as hoses can be seen snaking inside. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they were in attendance at the scene.
Edinburgh Live approached Police Scotland for comment.
